Mannix a schoolboy runner from Kensignton, came to South Sydney via University and Central Newcastle. He made his South Sydney senior grade debut in Round 1 1935 in Reserve Grade against University at the Sports Ground. He had a cameo first grade career, playing just one first grade game in Round 2 1935 against Canterbury-Bankstown at Marrickville Oval. This was also his final game for South Sydney, as he transfered to Moree, soon after. Mannix would only play two senior grade games for South Sydney.
