One time South Sydney premiership winner in 1908.
Born in New Zealand, McCallum served as a Trooper in the Australian Price of Wales Light Horse in 1900-01 Boer War conflict in South Africa. McCallum was another rugby union convert, who played lower grades for South Sydney. He was called into first grade, when a number of forwards departed on the 1908-09 Kangaroo tour, making his first grade premiership debut in the 1908 Semi-Final against Glebe at Wentworth Park.
In 1909 McCallum was loaned to Wests to not delay their clash with Norths any longer after it had been delayed for 20 minutes.
McCallum played 3 seasons for South Sydney between 1908 and 1910. He played 2 first grade games for South Sydney.
McCallum's final first grade game was in the 1908 Premiership Final against Eastern Suburbs at the RAS Showground. He would turn out for South Sydney second grade and Third Grade affiliate club South Sydney Federals.
