Potter won one Reserve Grade premiership with South Sydney in 1934.
He was born in New Zealand. He played Rugby Union when he arrived for Coogee in the Kentwell Cup, before coming across to play League with South Sydney. Potter made his South Sydney senior grade debut in Reserve Grade in the Round 1 1934 clash against Eastern Suburbs at the Sports Ground. He then made his first grade debut in the 1934 tour match against Group 7(Wollongong) at the Sports Ground, before making his first grade premiership debut in Round 6 1934 against Newtown at Marrickville Oval.
Potter would play 4 seasons with South Sydney. He played 12 first grade games, which included 5 first grade premiership games. He played 58 senior grade games for South Sydney, which included 49 senior grade premiership games and 2 senior grade cup games. Potter would play his final First Grade game in Round 8 1936 against Western Suburbs at Pratten Park. He would play lower grades for a further season playing his last senior grade game in the 1937 City Cup Round 5 Third Grade clash against Western Suburbs at Pratten Park.
