Pyle is a one time Reserve Grade Premiership winning captain for South Sydney in 1945, but missed the grand final.
Pyle is a South Sydney junior from Matraville who played junior reps with South Sydney in 1940. Late in the 1940 season he was called up to make hi senior grade club and premiership debut in the 1940 Round 12 clash against Newtown at the Sports Ground. The following week he stepped up into reserve grade in the 1940 Round 13 Reserve Grade clash against Canterbury-Bankstown at the Sports Ground. A month later he joined the first grade squad on tour making his first grade club debut against Waratah-Mayfield in Hamilton. The following year he made his first grade premiership debut in the 1941 Round 1 clash against Eastern Suburbs at the Sports Ground.
Pyle was considered one of the cleverest five-eighths the club has produced. Pyle broke his knee-cap in 1942 and missed the rest of the season and playing the rest of his career with a wired knee cap.
Pyle joined the war effort in 1942, serving in the Army before serving in New Guinea. But was discharged early due to his knee injury.
Pyle played 5 season with South Sydney between 1940 and 1946. He played 11 first grade club games for South Sydney, which included 10 first grade premiership games. Overall he played 33 senior grade club games for South Sydney, which included 32 senior grade premiership games.
Pyle played his final first grade premiership game in the 1946 Round 2 clash against Western Suburbs at Pratten Park. He would play on for a few more games playing his final senior grade premiership and club game in the 1946 Round 4 Reserve Grade clash against Balmain at the Sports Ground.
