Not to be confused with Hack Thompson, Thomson is a two time South Sydney premiership squad member in 1909 and 1914, who also won the 1912 City Cup with South Sydney. Thomson was also a noted larrikin and boxer through his career, issuing many challenges and boasts in the media. "Tommo" was in return given a nickname "Romeo" by a journalist, who was renouned for giving players nicknames, after having a fancy for actresses.
