Urquahrt made his way to South Sydney, from Gosford via Cronulla and Illawarra-Wests. He made his first grade club debut in Round 1 of the 1973 Pre-Season Cup against Western Suburbs at Belmore Oval. A month later in 1973 Round 1 he made his first grade premiership debut for South Sydney against Parramatta at Redfern Oval, being the only player in South Sydney history to score a try and also be sent off also on first grade premiership debut, when he was sent off for a head-high tackle just after half-time.
Urquhart was a keen, bustling lock who backed up well.
Urquhart played 2 seasons with South Sydney. He played 32 first grade club games, which included 24 first grade premiership games and 8 first grade cup games. He played 45 senior grade games for South Sydney, which includes 37 senior grade premiership games.
He captained South Sydney to two reserve grade games. Urquhart played his last senior grade and first grade premiership game for South Sydney in the 1974 Preliminary Semi-Final against Western Suburbs at the Sydney Sports Ground.
