Ward grew up in Gerringong and came through the Illawarra system before coming into the South Sydney system. He came to play U21s in 2025, but with the pre-season injury crisis in the club he was called into first grade during the trials. He made his first grade club and cup South Sydney debut in the 2025 Round 1 Pre-Season Challenge match against Mainly-Warringah at Central Coast Stadium. He made his South Sydney senior grade premiership debut for South Sydney in the 2025 Round 1 clash against Manly-Warringah at Brrokvale Oval. He would make his first grade premiership debut for South Sydney in the Round 21 clash against Cronulla-Sutherland at Central Coast Stadium.
Ward is baby faced clever half, with pace and a clever passing and kicking game.
