Six time South Sydney premiership winner in 1925, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932, and 1926 premiership squad member, only missing the 1926 premiership final through injury. Wearing also played in the 1923 and 1924 premiership deciders. He is also a three time City Cup winner in 1921, 1924 and 1925. In 1920 Wearing ran the 100 yards in 10.2 seconds. Wearing had a trademark overhead kick on the run that he would gather one handed before racing to score. In 1923 Wearing won the rugby league sprint championship beating Horder and Blinkhorn. Wearing in 1925, 1926 and 1927 was the NSWRL leading try scorer. While in 1925 and 1928 he was the NSWRL leading point scorer. In 1929 Wearing became South Sydney's greatest point scorer after surpasing Harold Horder, a record he would hold until 1957. Also in 1929 Wearing became South Sydney's greatest try scorer after again surpasing Harold Horder, a record he would hold until 2014. In his honour a testimonial match was arranged after his retirement.
