One time South Sydney Second Grade premiership winner in 1914, who also won the Second Grade Sport Ground Cup in 1914 with South Sydney.

Born William Allsop before his parents married, changing his surname to Hilliard. Hilliard was a former South Sydney rugby union player who trialled with South Sydney rugby league in 1911 before playing with Balmain under permit for 2 seasons. In 1913 he returned to South Sydney, making his first grade premiership debut in the Round 1 clash against Western Suburbs at Pratten Park.

Hilliard played 3 seasons with South Sydney between 1913 and 1915. He played 11 first grade club games for South Sydney, which included 10 first grade premiership games and 1 first grade cup game.

In 1915 Hilliard captained the South Sydney Second Grade team.

Hilliard played his final first grade premiership game for South Sydney in the 1915 Round 10 clash against Annandale at Erskineville Oval. A few weeks later he made his final first grade appearance for South Sydney in the 1915 Round 1 City Cup clash against Eastern Suburbs at the Sports Ground.
