Kadwell played in the 1939 premiership decider for South Sydney. He also played in the 1939 State Championship Final for South Sydney.
Kadwell, younger brother of Harry, was a South Sydney junior, playing junior representatives in 1937 with the U21 Presidents Cup team, before, making his senior grade debut in the 1937 Round 4 Third Grade City Cup clash against Newtown at the Sports Ground. So impressed were the club in his services, that he was named captain of the Reserve Grade squad in 1938, stepping up in the 1938 Round 1 clash against Balmain at Leichhardt Oval. Mid 1938 season he was called up intothe Short-Form first grade knockout game against Eastern Suburbs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He made his first grade premiership debut in the 1938 Round 14 round clash against Newtown at Henson Park.
Kadwell played 4 seasons with South Sydney between 1937 and 1940. He played 26 first grade club games, whoch included 20 first grade premiership games and 3 first grade cup games. Kadwell played 57 senior grade club games for South Sydney, which included 45 senior grade premiership games and 9 senior grade cup games. He also played 4 short-form knockout games for South Sydney.
In 1940 Kadwell enlisted and was part of the Coastal Defence force. He played his final first grade premiership match for South Sydney in the 1940 Round 13 clash against Canterbury-Bankstown at the Sports Ground. His final first grade club game was the following day, on tour against Goulburn.
