Two time South Sydney premiership winner in 1908 and 1909.
Neill had a successful career as a junior RU player, but came out of retirement to play with South Sydney a month after the new League was up and running. He made his senior grade debut in the 1908 Second Grade Round 4 clash against Newtown at Double Bay. A week later he stepped up to make his first grade premiership debut in the Round 5 clash with Newtown at the RAS Showground.
Neill is a sound, rather than a brilliant fullback. Sure in tackling, handling and kicking.
Neill played 2 seasons with South Sydney between 1908 and 1909. He played 18 first grade premiership games for South Sydney.
Neill, made his representative debut for the 1909 Combined First Grade team against Combined Second Grade, while at South Sydney. He played 7 representative games at South Sydney He played for one game New South Wales against the NZ Maori in 1909. Neill made his Australian debut against the NZ Maori in 1909. He played 3 games for Australia. At the end of 1909 he played for the Kangaroos against the Wallabies.
Neill played his final first grade premiership game in the 1909 Semi-Final against Newcastle at the RAS Showground.
In 1931, Neill was awarded NSWRL Life Membership, and in 1952 he was named a Immortal by RL News.

After Leaving South Sydney
Neill had the distintion of becoming the first player to win a hatrick of premierships in 1910. He was a member of the 1911-12 Kangaroo tour of England.
