He was a member of the undefeated Second Grade team who won the Second Grade premiership in 1917 and the 1917 League Cup. In 1909 Reynolds also won the Third Grade premiership with affiliate club South Sydney Federals.

Reynolds first came into the South Sydney system when he joined the South Sydney Federals affiliate club in 1909. Initially in their Third Grade premiership winning team in 1909, stepping up to second grade in 1910 with promotion of South Sydney Federals to Second Grade in 1910. He was playing with South Sydney Federals in second grade in 1911 when he was called up to make his South Sydney first grade premiership debut in the 1911 Round 11 clash against Eastern Suburbs at the Sports Ground.

In 1912 Reynolds was playing with South Sydney Federals when he was kicked in the head by a horse, needing to go to hospital. He was living with his sister Elizabeth Slater in Redfern when the incident occurred. A few weeks later he was called up into the district second grade team to play in the Second Grade Sports Ground Cup. Affliate clubs did not compete in the end of season knockout in second grade.

Reynolds was described as a five-eighth of great pace, though mainly played centre in first grade. He was a tough player, referred at times to the "Gurkha" fighters of the Great War in the press. Reynolds was of dark complexion getting the nickname "Darky", and having references to "coming from La Perouse", though he never lived in La Perouse. At the time La Perouse area only had a population of 200 indigenous people. His sister had the complexion of a "half-cast negress", when she went missing one day in 1896, before her passing in 1919. His Grandfather Charles Reynolds was of African-Americian decent coming to Australia in the 1840s.

In 1913 Reynolds gained a permit to play with Annandale before returning to South Sydney in 1914 to win a premiership. In 1916 Reynolds married and moved into his Cleveland St home.

Reynolds played 5 seasons with South Sydney between 1911 and 1917. He played 9 first grade premiership games with South Sydney.

Reynolds made his representative debut in the 1914 Sydney Metropolis team while at South Sydney.

Reynolds played his final first grade premiership game with South Sydney in the 1914 Round 13 clash against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval. He would continue to play Second Grade with South Sydney playing his final senior grade game in the 1917 Reserve Grade League Cup Final. Before gaining another permit this time to go and play with Glebe.
