WIN 30-24
South Sydney cemented their spot at the top of the NRL ladder with an entertaining 30-24 win over in-form Gold Coast Titans on Sunday. The Rabbitohs, who trailed 18-12 during the first half, were thankful to a brilliant try-saving tackle by Greg Inglis on cousin Albert Kelly with just three minutes left on the clock. With seven of the last eight games between the Rabbitohs and Titans decided by eight points or less, it was no surprise to see a close affair. The match was an end-to-end treat for the 16,000-strong crowd, enjoying their first NRL game in the far North Queensland city since 2003. The early signs looked ominous for the Titans when Greg Inglis crashed his way over from close range to score his 12th try of the season after 10 minutes. However, the visitors' spirits were boosted when Sam Burgess, back from a one-game ban for a crusher tackle, twice dropped the ball while stretching for the try line. The Titans took full advantage to score twice in the space of three minutes. First the impressive Aidan Sezer produced a deft kick for the flying Kevin Gordon to touch down in the left corner, and then Greg Bird put halfback Kelly through a huge gap in the Rabbitohs defence. The Rabbitohs hit back themselves in the 30th minute, Issac Luke crossing for the first time this season after beating Nate Myles to an Adam Reynolds grubber. Once again the Titans responded in style, fullback William Zillman bursting through the line at speed and beating Inglis' desperate last-ditch tackle to dive over. The Rabbitohs then produced a try of the season contender with the last play of the first stanza to tie the score at 18-18 at the break. The ball passed through eight sets of hands before Dylan Walker collected a Reynolds cross-field kick to touch down. The Titans paid the price for a poor start to the second half and repeated errors down their own end, with a rampaging Roy Asotasi and Ben Te'o both scoring to extend the Rabbitohs lead to 30-18 after 57 minutes. Gold Coast hit back once again when Kelly crossed for his 10th try in 13 games this season after a neat break and inside-pass from winger Anthony Don, Sezer's conversion getting them within six points. But Inglis' heroics ensured that was as close as they got.

NYC Cup Round 14
2:00pm, Sat Jun 15 Redf

WIN 40-26
Late Changes Hawkes starts in the center, Fuller starts at lock, Saumamao and Pollard starts from the bench. The South Sydney Rabbitohs came back from a 16-6 half-time deficit to record a 40-26 win over the Gold Coast Titans in the Holden Cup at the Suttons South Sydney High Performance Centre, Redfern Oval today. A 16 point haul by hooker Cameron McInnes, coupled with a 15 minute flurry of five second half tries sealed the win for the Rabbitohs and the two competition points. The Rabbitohs found themselves down early in the match after two tries to the Gold Coast’s Jared Teo and Kane Elgey, with the home side responding in the 28th minute through Christian Hazard who planted the ball over the stripe. But Titans replacement Tom Rowles was quick to atone for the visitors’ lapse, scoring his own four-pointer just before the break to bring the half time score to 16-6 in the Titans favour. The Bunnies took the field rejuvenated in the second half, making their intentions clear just four minutes after the break when Wesam Mourad touched down in the 44th minute to begin what would become a forgettable afternoon for the Titans. Prop forward Jack Gosiewski extended the lead in the 52nd minute, before Tyrone Phillips and Alex Johnston also added their names to the score-sheet in quick succession. McInnes added his own four-pointer in the 63rd minute, before lock Daniel Smith scored the final try for the home-side in the 67th minute. The Titans mounted a late effort that saw Elgey cross for his second, and Mathew Russell also score, but it was too little too late for the visitors – the Bunnies running out 40-26 victors.

NSW Cup Round 15
v Newcastle, Newcastle Sportsground No.2 Sat Jun 15 3:00pm

LOSS 10-20
Late Changes Koroisau and Clark were out, Peats started at hooker, Lupi at prop, Roberts second row, Hyland lock and Luke Burgess on the bench. The Newcastle Knights NSW Cup team celebrated their third win in a row with a 20-10 victory over the North Sydney Bears at No.2 Sportsground on Sunday afternoon. Neville Costigan and Timana Tahu brought some NRL experience in to the Knight’s line-up for their Round 14 match against the second placed Bears. The Knights kept the Bears scoreless in the first half and went in to the half time break with a 10 point lead before ending the game with a 10 point win. Fullback Peter Mata’utia opened the scoring just three minutes in to the game and hooker Chad Redman followed 13 minutes later with a try of his own for the Knights to be leading 10-nil. The Knights kick-chase opened the door for their first try of the second half, with winger Dale Clacherty scoring in the corner in the 12th minute on the back of a goal dropout. Half back Adrian Davis took over the goal kicking duties from Peter Mata’utia and his conversion extended the team’s lead by 16 points. Peter Mata’utia crossed for his second of the match just eight minutes later and the Knights looked to have the game tied up with just 20 minutes left to play. The Bears fought back and despite a brave effort in defence, Daniel Fepuleai found the line from dummy half in the 66th minute. Dylan Farrell added the extras and the Knights led by 14. With four minutes left in the game Kyle Turner managed to ground a spilled ball to take the score to 20-10.
