WIN 30-10

Parramatta coach Ricky Stuart declared South Sydney would win the comp - but his high praise yesterday was overshadowed by a sustained and personal attack on referees' boss Daniel Anderson. Stuart accused Anderson of not doing his job and said most other NRL coaches agree with him but won't say so because of fear of repercussions. But he said he had to stand up for his players and Parramatta fans in the wake of their 30-10 defeat to competition leaders Souths where they were hammered 13-6 in the penalty count. Stuart arrived at the post-match media conference armed with a piece of paper that obviously had his list of grievances on it and when questioned about the lop-sided penalty count he exploded. "It's a disgrace," Stuart said yesterday. "Let me say I think (Souths) are a good footy team. "I said at the start of the year and I've got no reason to take it back. I think they will win the comp." But Stuart's assessment of the referees, and in particular Anderson, was scathing He claimed Parramatta have been unfairly judged since he was fined $10,000 by the NRL for his attack on referees back in round six when they lost to the Titans. "Since we played at the Gold Coast and I had my little tantrum against the referees we have worked that hard in regards to discipline on the footy field, at training," he fired. "But we cannot be so different every week to the opposition. "I am not blowing up about the penalties or the penalty count but the opposition isn't copping the same as we're copping. "I have to be very careful of what I say because I don't want to bring my club into disrepute again or the game into disrepute. "But I've got to stand up. I've got to say that for the fans that follow us and for my players. "It wouldn't be right of me if I didn't." Stuart said he no longer communicated directly with Anderson and left all discussions to his assistant coach Dean Pay who he said was "bashing his head against the wall". "To keep my job I don't communicate with Daniel Anderson because I don't agree with what he is doing," Stuart said. "I know a lot of the coaches, or most, are the same in regards to my thoughts. "I have Dean Pay do all my communication. "Every week Deano is bashing his head against the wall in regards to showing him things we were penalised for. "He shows Daniel Anderson and he agrees but yet nothing is done. "I don't know what his job description is but I don't believe it is being fulfilled." Asked if his side were being unfairly treated because of their position on the ladder, he said: "I don't know if I am allowed to say that. I have to be very careful with what I say because they will go nit-picking again and want to jam me for something. "Sometimes the truth hurts. Sometimes people don't like hearing what is happening out there." Stuart's explosion over-shadowed a tremendous win for the Rabbitohs who raced in five tries to two. Souths went into the game without four Origin players and George Burgess, but didn't miss a beat on the way to their third straight win. John Sutton and Adam Reynolds were outstanding while coach Michael Maguire made special mention of fullback Justin Hunt and Thomas Burgess. Sam Burgess said it was a proud moment for the family to finally play NRL alongside Thomas. Sam revealed George showed him a copy of an old story written about the brothers back in 2005 at breakfast yesterday morning - where they talked about all four brothers one day playing first grade together. "Funnily enough actually my brother George sent me an article that was written in 2005 when the twins were 12 and me and Luke were 15 and 16," he said. "We sort of said back then we'd love to play together. We couldn't have dreamed of playing in Australia together but that is the way things have turned out. "I am really proud of not only my brothers but the whole squad."
