The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their teams for round 15 of the 2016 NRL Premiership against the Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium this Friday 17 June, with the NRL fixture scheduled to kick off at 7:50pm. With Greg Inglis and Adam Reynolds not selected this week due to State of Origin commitments, and Bryson Goodwin out through injury, Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire has named Alex Johnston at fullback, Siosifa Talakai at centre, Cody Walker at five-eighth and Luke Keary at halfback. Sutton, Hymel Hunt, George Burgess, Goodwin, Siolo, Musgrove, Oldfield, Crichton, Travers, Whitelaw, Langi and Goolagong were unavailable due to injury. Inglis, Reynolds, Guler, Murray and Koloamatangi were unavailable due to representative duties.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will feature the RECOGNISE logo on the sleeves of their home jersey for the remainder of the 2016 season. Rabbitohs co-major partner Crown Resorts has donated the jersey sponsorship property to RECOGNISE to help raise awareness for the organisation and their message of constitutional change. RECOGNISE is the people’s movement to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian Constitution and ensure there’s no place in it for racial discrimination. RECOGNISE’s focus is to raise awareness of the need to end the exclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from the Australian Constitution and deal with racial discrimination in it. Almost 300,000 Australians from all walks of life have already declared their support to recognise the first Australians in our country’s founding document and to fix the racial discrimination that still exists in it today. Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly says the Rabbitohs want to help raise awareness for the RECOGNISE organisation. “As a Club we are committed to helping raise awareness about RECOGNISE’s message so that, not only our Members and supporters, but Australians everywhere can make an informed decision on this issue when asked to vote at a referendum,” Mr Solly said. “We feel it is a very important message and we encourage everyone to learn more about RECOGNISE and the movement. “It’s a fantastic gesture from Crown Resorts to donate their sleeve position on our home jersey to RECOGNISE and we look forward to helping people all over the country understand the movement and make informed judgments on what they think is best for this country.” RECOGNISE Joint Campaign Director Tanya Hosch thanked Crown Resorts and the Rabbitohs for their support and for playing a significant role in helping to spread the word about constitutional recognition and dealing with racial discrimination in our nation’s rule-book. “Recognition of the sporting excellence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players on the field is very important. By partnering with RECOGNISE, the Rabbitohs are also showing their support for recognising Indigenous people in the Constitution too.”
