Easter Massacre
After a emotional fortnight, Souths were finally able to refocus on football. A refocus they did. After a tough openning period, Souths tore open the opposition through a 3 try blitz is the final 10 minutes of the first half. Then again after a tough opening we saw another 15 minute massacre where we scored 5 tries, to score our second ever 50 point result against the Dogs, in what will be known as the Easter Massacre. The team now heads up to Brisbane to face new chums the Dolphins lead by our former coach, who have started the season well.
Trell 26 points
Latrell Mitchell became the third highest premiership point scorer in a game for Souths when he notched up 26 points from 3 great tries and 7 goals. The record is held by Johnny Graves who scored 29 points in a game. It was a delight to watch the big man in action.
Graham HatrickNot to be outdone Campbell Graham also scored a hatrick as he chimmed into the line with perfection, as our right side continues to impress in seaso 2023.
Duncan strong again
Tallis Duncan has adopted a super sub rle of late in reserve grade. He has been coming off the bench and playing 60 minutes. He scored another try and had another try assist while doing a mountain of defence at lock.
Kaho double
A strong win by the U21 boys saw the team work the ball well in backline movements, with Carson Kaho once again scoring a double out wide on the left. He is coming along nicely, and has speed to finish those ball movements.
Redfern NRL Training Farewell
It was a emotional farewell to Redfern as a NRL training facility during the week, as the team prepares for the move to Heffron Centre. We saw Mario Fenech and George Piggins join the team on the field after the captains run in a final reflection. While NRL training will relocate to Heffron, pathways games will still be held at Redfern and our Senior pathways teams will start using Redfern Oval as their training base.
