2025 - The Cyber View from the Hill

23rd Jul 2025

Season all but over

7 losses in a row and our season is all over bar the shouting. We were able to hold the ball this week but our inability to break the defensive line, continues to a tell story in our attack. Are we seeing the end of the once great coach as he hurtles towards uncharted teritory. Another loss this week and it will equal his longest ever losing streak. It looking very likely we will not only miss the 8 but also finish well towards the bottom of table. Throw in the fact that our reserve grade team is also running last, and there isn't much joy in 2025 Rabbitoh fans Its now off to Gosford to play the Sharks who is a battle to make the final 8.

Johnston Greatest Rabbitoh Cub and NSWRL/ARL/NRL 3 Grade Premiership Try Scorer

It was a simple kick in behind the line by Wighton, as Alex Johnston pounced on another try. It was his 207th first grade try and his 217th Rabbitoh 3 grade club try. The try allowed him to pass the great Benny Wearing as the greatest ever South Sydney club try scorer across all club games. That is premiership, cup and tour games. Also, the try was also his 220th NSWRL/ARL/NRL 3 grade premiership try. Including the 3 tries he scored for the Bears in reserve grade. That allowed him to also pass the great Ken Irvine who had 219 3 grade premiership tries, as the greatest 3 grade NSWRL/ARL/NRL premiership try scorer. A great achievement for the great Alex Johnston.

Ward rewarded

Ashton Ward has been playing consistently in reserve grade and in U21s. He is a refreshing player who takes on the line in attack and combines will with his outside men. This week he will get his chance to play first grade as he steps into a injury ravaged team. Looking forward to seeing him this week running the team.

Ayache and Trew doubles

Ayache has been a shinning light in and around the rucks in our Felgg team and on the weekend he scored another double from dummy half. While on the wing we see big 6 ft 6 inch right winger Bailey Trew doing his bit. From strong carries out from his line, to powerful defensive players to scoring tries on the end of the backline. He is one to watch going forward.

Mailangi working hard

While the women had a hickup on the weekend, Seli Mailangi has stepped up and her nuggety play at hooker or lock is one of the highlights in the team.

Record 15 Top 30 Players out injured

Just when you think our injury crisis couldn't get any worse, we lose Latrell Mitchell, Koloamatangi, Humphreys and Mamouzelos. Its a record 15 of the Top 30 players out this weekend. Fans have posted a Red Cross syymbol over the Heffron centre, as we become a rehab centre rather than a football club. Luckily the U21s have a weekend off this week, as a number are stepping up into reserve grade. Everyone, media, commentators, analysts and fans are all asking the simple question - what is going on?
