Brogan is a 1 time South Sydney premiership winning squad member in 1953, and played a cameo in 1950 South Sydney premiership winning squad. He also played in the 1949 and 1952 South Sydney first grade grand final decider teams. Brogan was the South Sydney Reserve Grade premiership winning captain in 1945, who also a member of the 1943, 1952 and 1953 Reserve Grade premiership winning squads with South Sydney.
Brogan, is the son of 1920 legend Frank Brogan, Ken Brogan is a South Sydney junior from Coogee. He was a Sydney ball-boy ball-boy between 1940 and 1942. At age 15 he trialed with South Sydney and was graded at age 16 in 1943. He made his senior grade debut in the 1943 Round 2 Third Grade clash against Balmain at the Sport Ground. Late in the season he stepped up into reserve grade in the 1943 Round 12 Reserve Grade clash against Canterbury-Bankstown at the Sport Ground. In 1945 he made his first grade club and premiership debut in the 1945 Round 2 clash against Newtown at Henson Park.
In 1946 Brogan sat out the 1946 after being hospilised from a accident. He is a robust versitile player with a smart pass. He is equally at home at half, five-eighth or centre. Between 1950 and 1951 Brogan accepted country appointments with Camden and then Cooma before returning to South Sydney in 1952.
Brogan played 9 seasons for South Sydney between 1943 and 1953. He played 86 first grade club games for South Sydney, which included 77 first grade premiership games. Overall he played 136 senior grade career club games for South Sydney, which included 127 senior grade career premiership games for South Sydney.
Brogan was a noted goal kicker learning his trade from uncle Benny Wearing. Overall he stored 224 career club points which included 201 senior grade premiership points for South Sydney.
Brogan captained South Sydney in first grade between 1948 and 1949 for 11 games, debuting in the Tour game verses Central Newcastle in 1948.
Brogan played his final first grade club and premiership game in the 1953 Round 14 clash against St George at Kogarah Oval.
