Dougles was part of the fringe group of players who trialed with South Sydney in 1908, before being graded in second grade in 1908. He made his senior grade debut in the 1908 Round 1 clash against North Sydney at Birchgrove Oval, scoring a try. After a season in second grade, he made his first grade debut in the 1908 Top 8 Qualifying Round against Newcastle at Wentworth Park. This was his ony first grade appearance.
