2025 - The Cyber View from the Hill

4th Jun 2025

Need to Play for 80 minutes

The game was was played in 3 thirds. The game opened with a strong performance in first 30 minutes by South Sydney to lead for almost all of the first half. The South Sydney dominated the final 25 odd minutes of the game as they came home in a strong finish. But its what happened in the middle 25 minute period, that lost the game. Letting in 2 tries in the final 10 minutes of the half and 3 tries in the openning 15 minutes of the second half. We need to stay focused for the 80 minutes as Top 4 teams will make you pay if your not focused for the full 80 minutes. Its now for a road trip to Canberra against the 2025 form team of the competition with snow hitting the Australian Alps and it will be a very cold match day. Still 8 more wins to make the finals.

Johnston Scores 200 tries

All hail Alex Johnstone the great. He scored his 15th hattrick of tries, bring up his 200th first grade premiership try. Only the second ever person to do so. And all for the same club our beloved South Sydney. During the match he also broke the record for the most tries at a single venue scoring his 90th try at Stadium Australia. I can say I have watched every one of his 210 tries across all 3 grades. The next target is 217 all time club tries to eclipse the great Benny Wearing's 216 senior 3 grade club try scoring record in all games(premiership, cup and tour) for a single club South Sydney.

Mitchell power game post Origin

Latrell Mitchell put in one of best performances in South Sydney colours to almost lead to a come from behind victory. It was brutt force for one of his tries, while he set up Johnston for two others. Throw in his 5 from 5 goals and you had a man of the match performance a few days after his mid week origin game. In a self imposed media ban he is letting his football do the talking.

Lua making an impact

Daniel Lua a mainstay of the junior grades, has stepped his year into seniors. A lock or prop to plays with passion and power. He is making his mark on the team as he steps up, and scored a try to put the team in lead. Another one of the SG Ball team stepping up. Looking forward to watching his progress.

NRL wants Bennett for PNG team

This the rumour mill is running rife with the NRL courting Wayne Bennett to head up the new PNG NRL franchise in 2028. Thats 3 years away and only 6 months into his current contract. It is disappointing to this attempt to destablise our campaign, this time from NRL HQ. We have no succession plan this time around. But it is disappointing to see this already in the media, rather than focusing on what matters, 2025.
