WIN 28-20
South Sydney have bounced back with wins against high-flyers Manly and Canterbury in successive weeks, putting behind their recent string of bad form where they lost three in four games. Despite a strong 28-20 win against the Bulldogs on Friday night, Reynolds was not entirely satisfied with his team's display. ''We've got a lot of improvement in us,'' he said. ''We're continually working hard at training to get better. I think we're improving every week. ''It was a bit frustrating dropping the balls and turning possession over. It's not the way we wanted to finish the game, but it's always a positive to get the win.'' Souths had a first-half completion rate of 90 per cent, which dipped to 80 per cent in the second stanza, handing the Bulldogs easy possession. Reynolds said Souths' late-season slump had helped spark the side back to life. ''We always knew we weren't playing our best football, we knew we needed to get back to playing quality footy,'' he said. ''Training during those weeks really stepped up, the players have got on board. There's no better way to challenge yourself than to play the top teams in the comp. Credit to the boys, they stood up again [on Friday night] and got the job done.'' Reynolds' performances have mirrored those of his side after impressive back-to-back showings. He was at his scheming best on Friday. His six goals were the difference after both sides scored four tries, while his general-play kicking was also a standout, including his second 40/20 kick of the season. ''We made things tough for us in the second half,'' Reynolds said. ''We didn't complete our sets under pressure and you can't give a quality team like them the ball. ''The Dogs always have good kick pressure and they make things tough for you. I thought our chases made the kicks. I thought our outside men and our middles pushed up and really made the kick option work. I haven't kicked many [40/20s] in my career. It's always nice to get one early on. It's always a confidence booster.'' The Rabbitohs get back forwards Sam Burgess and Jeff Lima from suspension for their match against the lowly ranked Wests Tigers, while centre Bryson Goodwin has been cleared of a serious ankle injury despite hobbling from the field late in the game. South Sydney coach Michael Maguire said fullback Greg Inglis could be rested for the Tigers clash as he battles an ongoing knee injury. With a minor premiership still within their grasp, Reynolds said set completion was their aim in the next two weeks heading into their second straight finals campaign. ''The experience [of finals football] helps having been there and done it last year,'' he said. ''We know what to expect. ''Building pressure and completing sets goes a long way to winning those games. ''We just have to work on our own game. We've got to complete sets and build pressure.''

The North Sydney Bears maintained their place in the top-four after comfortably accounting for the Wests Tigers 32-16 at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday. The Tigers took the early advantage with centre Josh Davis pouncing on a grubber kick from halfback Jack Madden after only five minutes of play to give his side an early 6-0 lead. North Sydney opened their account just minutes later when winger Mitchell Buckett sailed high above the defence to pluck a well-placed bomb from the air and ground it out wide. Halfback Apisai Koroisau converted to make it 6-all. With both teams fighting to gain the advantage, Tigers’ second rower Jarred Farlow scored out wide touching down on a neat grubber kick from five eighth Eddie Paea from close range to edge in front 10-6. The Tigers’ extended their lead three minutes later when centre Rory Brien crossed in the right hand corner after quick hands along the back line allowed him to slice past some slow defence and crash over; Meaney’s conversion giving the Tigers a 16-6 advantage at half time. The Bears came out a different side in the second half with second rower Kyle Turner proving too strong at close range to score out wide after five minutes with Koroisau converting to make it 16-12. North Sydney then leveled the game when five eighth Darren Nicholls scored next to the posts after a break up the middle of the field allowed the Bears to come within attacking range of the Tigers’ line. Koroisau’s conversion giving them the lead for the first time in the match at 18-16. Koroisau then split the defence open out wide with a great right foot step near the line to score but couldn't convert to take the score to 22-16. With eight minutes remaining, Shaune Corrigan put the game out of the Tigers’ reach when he crossed out wide after Nicholls busted through the Tigers defence to find his centre in support to plant the ball down over the try line. North Sydney put the icing on the cake when fullback Justin Hunt steamed onto a super inside pass from Koroisau to go over untouched and give the Bears a well-deserved 32-16 victory at full time.
