2023 - The Cyber View from the Hill

22nd March 2023

Missed Opportunities

We got off to great start leading 10 nil, then the game became a period of of missed opportunities as nearly scored on 3 occassions before dropped balls and penalties allowed the opposition to get get back into the game and lead. While a remarkable come back looked a possibility in the end it was the Rabbitohs who beat themselves in this game which was there to be won. Finally we get our first home game for the season after the big concerts at Accor Stadium are over. And it will be another tough game against Manly who are flying high after winning the pre-season comp.

Forward Injury Crisis

We are in the middle of a injury crisis in our forwards. Currently we have 6 players on the sideline. Tatola, Sele who both recently gotknocked out in the first minute of recent games, Shaq Mitchell who has a broken foot on top of injuries to Arrow, Havilli and Knight. Its going to be a tough few weeks as we have to rely on some up and comming players sooner than we had planned.

Mamouzelos double

Pistol Pete helped set the scene for a great start to the reserve grade clash with a great support play try followed a trademark burrow over from dummy half as he raked up a double. But then to see him leave the field caused a big issue. Hope the injury is not significant.

Fletcher & Le Blanc step Up

The last few weeks have seen two U19 players called up into the U21 Flegg squad. Thomas Fletcher who got a taste of First Grade in the Charity Shield was called up last week. And this week its lock Liam Le Blanc. Both are quality future prospects as we see their steady development.

Wright double

In a poor season for our U19s a shining light has been centre Daniel Wright. His attacking ability out wide was once again on show on the weekend as he scored two tries and was a regular danger in attack.

U17 Girls whitewash

Our U17 girls had a great day out against Cronulla on the weekend putting a half century on the opposition. They scored 10 tries to nil in a whitewash. With captain Kiani Duckett having a strong game scoring two tries.

Farewell Satts a Rabbitoh Legend

It was sad day when news filtered through on Monday that the legend John Sattler had passed away. He is a icon of the game for physical toughness and a South Sydney legend. He captained Souths to 4 premiership wins, captained Sydney teams, New South Wales and Australia. And missed being captain of the 1970's Kangaroo tour because of that famous broken jaw in the 1970 Grand Final. Tributes have been flowing all week for the true gentleman of the game and South Sydney. We all get a chance to pay our respects this weekend in a fitting game against Manly, the team we played in the 1970 Grand Final when Satts broke his jaw
