Back In the Winners Circle
Our second game on our 5 weeks on the road. We started slowly in both halves. First half was full of early errors and second half some slow right side ruck defence. It was the first game for Latrell Mitchell and helped settle the team, and his pressence and foil for Cody was very important to our team dynamics. We dominated the backend of both halves and got back into the winner circle which has put us back into the Top 8 but with multiple team on our heals. Still 3 more wins needed in a very tight finish for the final 8. Now off to Perth to play fellow Top 8 team Cronulla.
Johnston Greatest Multiple Try Scorer
The return of Trell, suddenly opened up our left side, and AJ once again scored a hatrick of tries, his 12th and the most ever for the club, and his 51st multiple try game. Which saw him move to the top of the NRL premiership multiple try scorer list. Congratulations to AJ who moves to 184 tries in his career and 18 for the season.
Brock Gray on the improveA unsung reserve grade hero this year has been Brock Gray. He came back to the club and is doing a great job in his work rate at prop. His runs are having a impact and is creating a impact as he comes off the bench, with strong defence. He is a classic forward who is developing later in his career.
Macey double
In a tough day in the office in our U21s, Aaron Macey once again was on the end of the backline and he does what he does best, use his speed to score. A young kid with a future.
International RL in limbo
The CBA is still not agreed between the NRL and the RLPA, and escalted on the weekend when the players covered the NRL logo. So while this continues the end of season international are in limbo. Not to mention the RLPA wants to increase the break period from 8 weeks to 9 weeks, which will directly impact the International RL post season 6 week window. Without the RLPA acceptance on the NRL proposal to pay the players for international fixtures, and the leave break, the NRL will not commit to underwrite end of season fixtures. So it is now impossible to schedule end of season internationals, which means its impossible to negotiate broadcast deals. All of this is now hurting not only the fans but players who want to represent their countries, and Rugby League in general.
