LOSS 6-31
South Sydney has slumped to its fourth loss from five outings after a disappointing 31-6 defeat to the North Queensland Cowboys at Accor Stadium. A solid first half defensive performance was let down in the second, as the Rabbitohs conceded four tries to suffer a heavy defeat. Both sides showed signs of promise and looked to show some attacking flair through the opening quarter of the game, only for defence to show out and neither unable to break the deadlock. An obstruction call gave the Cowboys a full set on the Rabbitohs line in the 24th minute, but again their defence held solid, before Cameron Murray was forced from the field for a HIA. Soon after they were tested again with repeat sets, but the defensive line was able to keep the visitors at bay, with Keaon Koloamatangi plucking an attacking Cowboys kick right on the goal-line to keep the scores at zero through 28 minutes. Another error in their own half proved too costly this time, with Tom Dearden finding Murray Taulagi with a looping pass to open the scoring in the 32nd minute of play. With the clock winding down, Scott Drinkwater slotted a field goal with the last play of the half to head into the sheds up 5-0. A complete turnaround was needed at the half with the Rabbitohs behind on possession, territory, errors and penalties conceded at the break. The second half could not have started any worse, with Drinkwater breaking through the line and putting Valentine Holmes over the push the margin out to 11-0 just five minutes into the half. Holmes had a double on the very next set, with Taulagi knocking a chip kick back into the centre's hands to create an imposing scoreline at 17-0. The possession tide began to turn and after 59 minutes they finally posted points, with a Lachlan Ilias dummy off a scrum fooling the defence and seeing him cross under the posts to keep them in the contest. Just as they looked to gather momentum, an error and penalty helped the Cowboys take a gift two points and push the score to 19-6. The result was as good as done 10 minutes from time, with a rampaging Kulikefu Finefeuiaki busting through two tackles to score under the posts and make the lead an unassailable 19 points.

WIN 30-16
Late Changes - The Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles hosted the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 17 of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup, where the away side produced a strong performance to win 16-30. It’s South Sydney’s fifth-straight victory, which sees them jump ahead of their opposition on the ladder. The away side drew first blood when Tyrone Munro crossed over for a try after a stellar run from centre Joseph Karapani, where some fancy footwork beat the defenders and he passed it out wide for his winger to score with ease. Dean Hawkins scored to put his team ahead 6-0. The Sea Eagles bounced back midway through the first half after sustained pressure on the Rabbitohs 10 metre line was rewarded with a try. Halfback Jakob Arthur eyed a gap in the defence and passed the ball to rising hooker Gordan Chan Kum Tong who crossed over to score. The try was converted to level the score to 6-6. The Sea Eagles took the lead when a dodgy pass from the Rabbitohs was intercepted by Clayton Faulalo and the speedy winger entered full flight to run the length of the field and give his team the lead. It was tit for tat at Blacktown on Sunday afternoon when fullback Jacob Gagai broke through the line with strength and grubber kicked the ball out to Tom Carr, who was tackled just before the try line. In the following set the ball found the hands of captain Hawkins who forced his way through the defence and crashed over for a try. Hawkins converted his own try to make the score 12-12. The Rabbitohs took the lead early in the second half when Gagai broke through the line with pace and found Tyrone Munro who sped down the blind side before passing the ball back inside to his fullback for a tidy try. The Sea Eagles bounced back once again after they found themselves with a fresh set of six just before the try line. The home side produced some slick passing along the left edge which resulted in Kaeo Weekes finding Clayton Faulalo who stepped past the defenders to score his second of the day. The conversion was sprayed wide by Cooper Johns to leave his team trailing 16-18. South Sydney extended their lead over Blacktown after some hard tackling forced an error and they received possession. Front-rower Shaquai Mitchell ran a hard line to break through several defenders and flicked the ball out to Tom Carr who blitzed down the blind side to score himself a try. The try was converted to give South Sydney a lead of 16-24. South Sydney put the final nail in the coffin with less than a minute on the clock when Dean Hawkins scored his second try of the day by running the line and crashing over. The conversion was converted to leave the final score 16-30.

LOSS 14-48
Late Changes - Abou-Arrange, Tweedie and Jinks are out. Grossemy starts at prop, Vailalo at lock, B.Hawkins and Le Blanc on the bench. Kaho is the concussion sub. A early penalty followed by a lovely kick in behind the line saw Ferguson score the opening try as Souths skipped away to early lead. This was then followed soon after by a lovely ball from Macey to put Leugaimafa away down the sideline before he centre kicked to Towns who raced 30 metres to score and Souths led 10 nil. But Manly hit back with 3 tries before the break and one soon after as they scored 24 unanswered points. Finally some possession and and nice backline movement saw Leaguaimafa score in the corner. But then Manly took control and scored another 24 unanswered points to take out the game 48 to 14.
