Garlick is a South Sydney junior from South Eastern. He however did not play junior reps. He made his senior grade debut in the 2014 Round 4 U20s NYC clash against Canberra at Stadium Australia. He then left South Sydney to play with Canterbury-Bankstown before returning to South Sydney. In 2020 he stepped up into reserve grade in the 2020 Round 1 clash against Newtown at Redfern Oval, just before lower grades were shutdown due to Covid. He once again left South Sydney, joining Newtown, before entering the Melboure system. In 2026 he returned back to South Sydney at the back end of his career. He finally made his South Sydney first grade cup debut in the 2026 Round 1 Pre-Season Challenge match against St George-Illawarra at Wollongong Stadium, as captain. By doing so, the Garlicks became the first father son combination to captain South Sydney at first grade in premiership or cup games, since the Hallett's in 1948. He then made his South Sydney first grade premiership debut in the 2026 Round 1 premiership match against the Dolphins at Lang Park Stadium.
Garlick is a journey man and a late bloomer like his father. He is a modern day bench utlity being able to play hooker and back row as required.
