Another Heartbreaking Melbourne Loss
It seems to a recuring theme everytime we play the Storm. we get close but not quite able to jag a win. This week we put 5 tries on the Storm after a poor start and led them with 15 minutes on the clock. But it was goal kicking that let us down again this week, as we scored 5 tries to 4 but a missed goal from the sideline saw us go into golden point. Then the well drills STorm team ust executed to snatch the win. 4 losses in a row against the current Top 4 teams has seen us drop to second last in first grade. Add that we are also second last in Reserve Grade and equal second last in U21s, and its not a pretty picture once again in seaso 2025. We are now off to Brisbane to play the Dolphins who are fighting toremain in the 8. Still 8 more wins to make the finals.
Johnston 4 Tries
In a first for Alex Johnston he scored 4 tries in a match. Though he has scored 5 tries a few times. The combination he has with Latrell Mitchell is brilliant, as he scored a rapid fire 3 tries, before taking a intercept for his fourth. He has raced to 206 tries just 6 behind Irvine and now second on the NRL try scorers list with 11, in only 7 games in 2025. He also equalled the most hattricks in NSWRL/ARL/NRL history with 16. Just loving watching AJ the great.
O'Donnell opens them up
O'Donnell got his chance to start this week after captain Ryan Gray was called up into first grade and concussion injury to Matt French. And he didn't disappoint. He scored a clever try off a Ashton Ward grubber in goal, followed almost immediately by a break from dummy half that setup a 60m try to fullback Gudgeon. He has a nice passing and running game and continues to do well, when called up into the team.
Harrison Rooke steps up
The next U19s man up Harrison Rooke, got a taste of senior grade football and his class was immediately evident in his tackling and running. He has nice step before he hits the line, and will be a player to watch as his career progresses. Looking forward to seeig him also progress.
Womens campaign underway
Trials are now over, as the selectors settle on the final squad. A number of our U19 girls stepped in and had a run, and a lot of new faces had a trial. As the competition is running like a NRLW reserve grade, the teams to see how that settles before we can confirm our squad. Best of luck as the campaign begins next week.
NSW Government Rejects Moore Park Return
During the week the NSW Government and Venues NSW rejected South Sydney bid to return to Moore Park. It was disappointing that a club who's electorial district originally known as South Sydney, which included Moore Park and the Showground, cannot play in our district. Political pressure is ow hotting up, with Prime Minister and Sydney council mayor joing the push to overturn this. There are reports of $120 mil invested in upgrading Stadium Australia. Only significant upgrade was the southern TV screen, which reduced seating capacity. On the converse, there are reports also that we agreed to revised terms in November 2021 after the Stadium rebuild was no longer proceeding. As a fan it is disappointing that we cannot play in our heartland until the ten year agreements concludes in 2030. There are pluses and minuses of both locations, but is importat to reconnect with our heartland.

Ruck defence Moale/Tatola/Keppie-Havili/RGray-Koloamatangi/LeBlanc-Hubner/Koloamatangi (5-3-2-7) dropped to 17 from 15 missed tackles last week.
