The South Sydney Rabbitohs have suffered a defeat at the hands of the Canberra Raiders, going down 36-12 in what was ultimately a tough outing for the Cardinal and Myrtle. It was truly a tale of two halves as the Rabbitohs looked strong early, leading 12-0 at their peak and 12-6 at half time. Unfortunately, a 30-0 second half in favour of Canberra proved decisive in this match, with the running game of Ethan Strange and a Josh Papalii double, along with an injury to Cody Walker proving to be too much for the Rabbitohs to contend with. South Sydney received the first attacking opportunity of the game off the back of a penalty against Zac Hosking for a crusher tackle on Keaon Koloamatangi. The Rabbitohs capitalised almost straight away with a bit of poetic justice for Koloamatangi, who crashed over adjacent to the uprights after combining with Lachlan Hubner for a 6-0 lead after as many minutes. The Red and Green marched upfield once again after a six-again call from the referee, before receiving another penalty after a high shot from Hudson Young on Jayden Sullivan. Latrell Mitchell slotted the goal with ease, extending his side’s lead to 8-0. South Sydney maintained the pressure on Canberra, dominating both field position and possession throughout the early exchanges of the match. As such, it was only a matter of time before more points would come for the Rabbitohs, who managed to find their second try of the game through Alex Johnston. Johnston was on the receiving end of a beautiful cut-out ball square on the chest from the returning Cody Walker, continuing his try-scoring ways from last week as he crossed the stripe without a hand being laid on him. The Raiders managed to stem the uneven flow of possession for the remainder of the half, and found their way to the line thanks to a close-range effort from Ethan Strange just two minutes before the break. Strange then converted his own try, leaving the scores at 12-6 in favour of South Sydney at halftime.
The Raiders returned from the sheds the stronger of the two teams after the break, and managed to square the ledger with another try to Strange in the 50th minute. South Sydney suffered a big setback in the 56th minute as skipper Cody Walker was seen walking up the tunnel with a groin injury. Siliva Havili came on to replace Walker, playing at dummy half while Jamie Humphries shifted into the halves. With Walker barely in the sheds for a minute, things went from bad to worse for the Rabbitohs as Canberra scored their third try of the afternoon through Zac Hosking to take the lead for the first time in the match. The Raiders extended their lead to 12 points in the 65th minute when Simi Sasagi crossed in the corner. A late double to Josh Papalii snuffed out any hope of a late comeback for the Red and Green as the deficit was extended to 24 points with five minutes to go. This would end up being the final scoring play of the game, cementing South Sydney's 36-12 defeat.

Late Changes - Munro is out. Gudgeon starts on the wing. Williams is the concussion sub. Skelton, Schuster and Plath drop off the bench. The South Sydney Rabbitohs have claimed an important two competition points defeating the Canberra Raiders in the nation's capital in Round 14. A dominant opening 20 minutes saw the Raiders’ Danny Levi take control out of Dummy-half, but the Rabbitohs’ efforts saw them head into the sheds on top 8-4. A back and forth second half saw South Sydney pull off one extra try to keep them on top as they came away with the 14-24 victory. The Raiders were first on the scoreboard for the through winger Jed Stuart. Levi, back in the Raiders’ Cup side after a stint in the top grade, was causing all kinds of problems for Souths with his distribution out of dummy-half. He got the ball away to skipper Adam Cook who put in a beautifully placed kick for Stuart to cross the line out wide. An unsuccessful conversion from Cook saw the Raiders with an early four-point lead. The Rabbitohs eventually answered back with a try in the 25th minute to winger Haizyn Mellars. A floating pass from Jye Grey put Mellars away as he raced down the left wing to score. An unsuccessful conversion for Fletcher Myers saw scores levelled 4-4. The Rabbitohs found themselves in again with seven minutes left to play in the first half. A repeat play of their first try, Jye Grey’s floating pass saw centre Fletcher Myers this time run 50 metres down the left side to score. Another unsuccessful conversion from Myers saw the Rabbitohs lead by 8-4 at half-time. The Raiders came out hungry in the second half with a try off the bat to forward Joe Roddy. A knock-on from South Sydney saw the Canberra capitalise as Adam Cook shovelled the ball right to Roddy on the receiving end. Cook added the extras as the Raiders led 10-8. A threatening run for the line just three minutes later saw Jye Grey pull up close to the try-line. A quick pass from dummy-half Ryan Gray saw Henry O’Kane charge onto the ball to score. Myers converted taking the Rabbitohs back into the lead at 14-10. Halfway through the second half the Rabbitohs were forced into a line drop-out. A short drop-out saw South Sydney compete for the ball, but as it was touched and knocked down Joe Roddy took an opportunity to grab his second try of the night. Cook failed to convert as the scores were now level at 14-all. A six-again call ruled in favour of the Rabbitohs saw them march down the field. A left-foot kick to the wing from Lewis Dodd saw winger Ammaron Gudgeon speed his way to lead the chase and score to add a crucial four points for South Sydney. Just five minutes later, a passing mistake cost the Raiders. An attempted pass to the wing bounced as Gudgeon was quick to pick up the ball and run for the line to score again. Myers failed to convert, but as time ticked away the Rabbitohs proved too strong as they carried out the 24-14 victory.

Great backline move on their first tackle in the 20m zone saw South Sydney open the scoring with Fong scoring out wide. Canberra hit back from a long range try. Canberra went back to back a few minutes later. A dropped pass by Quinn and Canberra run away for another try. A dropped cross kick and a tackle later Canberra are in again. Canberra go into the break 6 to 20 leaders. Canberra openned the scoring the second half with a kick in behind the line to score. Another try to the Raiders out wide. After not halving the ball for 15 minutes. South Sydney finally got some ball and Quinn put Wright over for a try out wide. A well work scrum sweep saw Poynton chime in and score out wide. More possession and Quinn sends Wright over for his second. But Canberra had the last say scoring a long range try behind the ruck to win the game 22 to 38.
