Offseason Injuries Mounting
2026 hasn'te ven started and we continue to receive reports of a number of injuries from our training reports. Before a ball is kicked in anger, we have already lost Humphreys (last round suspension) and Munro(off field incident) through suspensions. Then Tass injuried his ACL in the Murri offseason knockout. Koloamatangi had off season surgery but should be ok for the season start. Then a scare ran through the camp when Mitchell and Fifita went down injuried. Sullivan's recovery from a bad kneee injury suffered a set back, as did Graham's recovery. Walker and Tatola are also having a slow return. New Kiwi recruits Graham-Taufa and Kosi both picked up injuries. Then throw in the reports that Arrow has had a reoccurance of a neck injury. This week's charity shield team will have a very different feel about it.
Keaon gone, Haas arrives
Christmas was all doom and gloom after failing to secure Keaon's signature in 2027. But this week the club has possibly pulled off one of the biggest coup's in replacing him with Payne Haas, considered the best prop in the current game. His schoolboy friendship with Fifita, playing a big part in bringing him down. Now to get the contract through the NRL, everyone remembers how the GI signing played out in 2011.
U19 boys open season with a win
It was one of the toughest games in U19s as the team had a come from behind victory against the much fancied Steelers outfit. Cody Hill led from the front when the game was on the line, scoring a try and setting up a another with in goal kicking game. Big props Lvekaiaho, Fui, Kite and Sisifa layed the platform, and new recruit Tauaa running game impressed as well All is looking good for the boys, who will give this comp a real shake.
Ryan-Last triple
The star in the girls U17 win was standout fullback Cobi Ryan-Last who was in everything. She scored three great tries as the U17 girls won their first game since Round 3 2024. She will be one to watch in 2026.
2027 Signings mess
We have seen the good, bad and the ugly of the 2027 signing process. It what can only be called a absolute mess. The process continues to be a distraction for the season 2026. Firstly the bad, Moale was signed by Melbourne for 2027, and then he went to Manly in 2026 as we tried to free up salary cap space. Then we had the ugly, the very public signing saga of Keaon's on again off again of Koloamatangi our most recent Australian representative. This left fans with a bitter taste on why should we keep him in our colours for 2026, just to head to a rival club. Then there is the good, which is the potential replacement of Payne Haas, as South Sydney negotiated the contract in a very secret manner, and lodged teh contract ust as he was about to depart for the UK for the World Club Challenge. This soap opera needs a better process. And this can only occur with the movement of the November 1 2025 date back to something like August 1 2026, when following season(eg 2027) contracts can be lodged with the NRL. The NRL has let the fans down in the CBA agreement in this regard. As the next few weeks of soap opera will be around how can Broncos and Rabbitohs offload players who do not play with their current club.
