We bow out with a Disappointing loss
It was bitterly cold Canberra night of football, as snow fell in the hills around the nations capital. The our right side defence struggled, against a opposition attack who broke our line at will. The loss however signalled the end of 2024 campaign as the club struggled to perform with mounting injury toll, with the cold Canberra night adding those woes. Now for our first Top 4 clash against the Sharks in the swamp, as we play all Top 4 contenders in the remaining rounds.
Johnston injury
What a bad luck for Alex Johnston, who went down with a raptured achilles early in the match. The injury has a 6 to 9 months recovery period He currently sits at 195 first grade premiership tries, and 205 all grade premiership tries. All with the one club South Sydney. Lets hope he has a full recovery.
Myers gets his chance
Fletcher Myers a mid season transfer from Newcastle gets his chance this weekend. He is a left centre or a winger who has a turn of pace, and has been brought in to address our goal kicking woes. Looking forward to seeing him get his chance.
Daisy Gordon working hard at the back
Daisy Gordon has stepped up into the top team this year and has worked very well at the back. She has chimed in for another try on the weekend, and is proving handful. Keep up the good work.
10 team RL World Cup a Step Backwards
Australia was confirmed as host for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup after the France government pulled funding to host the event. While this is a logical choice to get the event back on track, one aspect of the event is the reduction of teams back to 10 with only full member nations able to compete. This hurts the fringe rugby league nations, who see this as a way to grow their game locally. Lets hope this tough love will help grow the game locally as obtaining full member status means the country can sustain its long future.
