WIN 14-0
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have defeated the Manly Sea Eagles 14-0 in what was an error-riddled affair played in monsoon-like conditions. The weather certainly played a part in the low-scoring nature of the contest, with both sides struggling to control possession at crucial times. It was the Rabbitohs however, who best played to the conditions, with Jye Gray having a huge influence at the back. The diminutive fullback was extremely busy, running for 152m and scoring the first try of his NRL career in the 20th minute. Daimen Cook was instrumental too out of dummy half, setting up two out of the three South Sydney tries. The Rabbitohs opened the scoring through Richie Kennar, who crossed in the ninth minute to put his side ahead 4-0. A quick play-the-ball from Michael Chee Kam close to the line sent the Manly defence into a state of disarray, with Cook proving crafty enough to capitalise as he put Kennar through a yawning gap on the right. Jye Gray was next to put points on the board, combining with Cody Walker at the end of a slick backline move for his first try in the top grade. Souths had several other opportunities to add to their lead before the break, none more promising than a near miss right on half-time. Walker was at his scheming best on this occasion, throwing a gorgeous cut-out ball to an unmarked Alex Johnston, who got to within an inch of the line before being stopped by Tommy Talau in cover. It was certainly a thrilling way to end the half, despite the missed opportunity, with Souths looking dangerous and ahead 8-0 as both teams went to the sheds for a break.
The second half transpired in similar fashion to the first half, with both sides struggling to make the most of their opportunities in attack due to the slippery conditions. Jai Arrow was forced from the field in the 56th minute for an HIA after his head slammed into the ground as a result of a tackle from Tofafoa Sipley. This paved the way for debutant Liam le Blanc to come off the bench and take Arrow’s place for the first taste of NRL football in his young career. The rest of the second half saw Souths spend plenty of time defending their own line. Manly had many opportunities to score, however they were simply unable to breach the Red and Green wall that was South Sydney’s defence. The Rabbitohs then confirmed the result in the 78th minute, with Keaon Koloamatangi diving on a Damien Cook grubber to score the third and final try of the game, with Souths picking up their fourth straight victory, and keeping the Sea Eagles scoreless for the first time since 1949.

v Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles, 5:10pm
LOSS 20-42
Late Changes - Chapman starts on the bench, French at lock, Tsikrikas at prop. Chann foon is the concussion sub. Five-eighth Jamie Humphreys steered Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles to victory in a five-star performance as they triumphed 42-20 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Accor Stadium on Saturday night. After a mid-season form slump, the Sea Eagles have now won their last three matches. Gordon Chan Kum Tong scored two tries, with the hooker’s second being one of the best of the match, but the star was undoubtedly Humphreys who missed just one conversion all night. The first half started strong for both sides, with quick responses and early points on the board. Just four minutes into the match, Blacktown opened the scoring through winger Watson Heleta. Two minutes later the Rabbitohs answered back through fullback Bayleigh Bentley-Hape, but the conversion attempt by Dion Teaupa was unsuccessful, leaving the score at 6-4 in favour of the Sea Eagles. South Sydney continued to apply pressure, making several attempts at the line but failed to find points. However, the tide turned off a scrum just 20 out from the line with a spread to the wing, where Jude Saldanha managed to score on the edge. The conversion was unsuccessful hitting the post, but the Rabbitohs took the lead at 8-6. Momentum shifted in favour of the Rabbitohs as the Sea Eagles couldn't seem to convert their efforts into points, until a crucial moment with 15 minutes left in the first half which ultimately changed the trajectory of the match. An error opened the door for Blacktown hooker Chan Kum Tong to score. Humphreys’ successful conversion saw the lead change hands back to Blacktown, 12-8. With five minutes remaining, Blacktown capitalised on a linebreak with an offload to Taylor Bunting. Bunting charged down the middle of the field to score under the posts. Humphreys extended the lead to 18-8. Blacktown surged again with just 90 seconds remaining in the half with another linebreak to send Humphreys over for his first try of the match. The kicker followed through with a successful conversion. The Sea Eagles opened the second half with a commanding 22-8 lead and wasted no time extending it. Early in the half, Max Hayley scored and backed by a successful Humphreys conversion, the lead grew to 26-8. Blacktown's offensive onslaught continued as Clayton Faulalo scored his first try, followed by Gordon Chan Kum Tong's second of the match. The Sea Eagles put 18 points on the board in the opening nine minutes of the second half. The Rabbitohs showed some fight with nine minutes left on the clock. Both Bentley-Hape and Saldanha found their second tries of the game, closing in on Blacktown's lead to 42-20. Despite their efforts, they struggled to overcome the 22-point deficit. The match concluded with Blacktown firmly in control, Humphreys taking a penalty shot to put two more on the board securing a decisive 42-20 victory.

Late Changes - King is out. Tausala starts at prop, Ibrahim at second row, Hallie on the bench. Matakaiango is the concussion sub. Molkentein dropps off the bench. It was a tough day out for our Flegg team in the heavy conditions at Stadium Australia. Manly opened the scoring after 10 minutes and not before too long had rattled up a 18 nil lead, through 3 tries. Souths hit back through a try to Grossemy just before the break as we went into halftime at 6 to 18. But the second half openned with a quick try to Manly, who put on a further two tries in the half to win game 6 to 34.
