The Rabbitohs have sent an early warning to their NRL rivals with a dominant Witzer Pre-Season Challenge victory over the Sea Eagles. South Sydney's stars were all back on deck and they delivered in the 30-6 win at Mudgee's Glen Willow Oval to complete an undefeated pre-season. It didn't take long for David Fifita to make his mark in the red and green jumper, the edge back-rower brushing away Jamal Fogarty and bursting through the defensive line. Fifita was eventually dragged down. It was a dream start for the Bunnies, who needed just seven minutes to find the try-line. A Manly error handed South Sydney an attacking opportunity, before a penalty saw the pressure continue to build. The Sea Eagles eventually crack, with Campbell Graham finishing off a well-executed right side shift. Latrell Mitchell nails the sideline conversion. Brandon Smith got the side on the front foot with a dart from dummy half before offloading to Cody Walker, who broke into open space. South Sydney then ran the ball on the last against a retreating defence, with Jack Wighton racing to the corner. The centre got over the line but was held up. The pressure had built after multiple repeat sets of six, Walker spotted a couple of tired forwards, stepped off his left foot and accelerated through a gap to score the try. The 22nd minute saw Manly forward Nathan Brown sent to the sin bin for a high shot on Bayleigh Bentley-Hape. Jack Wighton has come agonisingly close to a try for a second time this afternoon, the centre latching on to a Campbell Graham offload and diving for the line in the corner. A desperate arm from Manly's Clayton Faulalo knocked the ball free. South Sydney were scoring tries at one end of the field and preventing them at the opposite end with some superb goal-line defence. Manly were throwing plenty at their opponents but they don't look like finding a way through the Rabbitohs defence. South Sydney were been dealt a blow, with Sean Keppie taken for an HIA after colliding with young Manly prop Simione Laiafi. Manly winger Lehi Hopoate looked destined to score before he was denied by desperate cover defence. Rabbitohs go into the break leading 12 nil.
After the break, South Sydney extended their advantage after Matt Dufty stepped passed Jamal Fogarty to create a midfield break. An offload to Jamie Humphreys followed, who then linked up with Bronson Garlick for the try. The Rabbitohs had absorbed plenty of pressure in defence up to this moment. The Rabbitohs scored their fourth and were finishing strongly. Peter Mamouzelos produced a deft kick from dummy-half, Latrell Mitchell charged through and won the race to the ball to score the try. Five minutes later the hooker threw a dummy and slid his way through the tired Sea Eagles defence as South Sydney kicked further clear. With ten minutes to go Manly got on the scoreboard, when emerging playmaker Joey Walsh produced superb work in the lead up to create the break. The youngster got on the outside of his opposite man before producing a superb pass to Clayton Faulalo who finished it off for the try. The Rabbitohs have completed an undefeated Pre-Season Challenge with a dominant 30-6 win over the Sea Eagles. South Sydney controlled the contest from the opening whistle. Off-season recruit David Fifita produced a barnstorming break in the opening minutes of the game, Latrell Mitchell scored a try in his move to centre, Cody Walker had three line breaks and a try in the opening 40 minutes and Cam Murray was at his energetic best as he looks to put an Achilles rupture in the rearview mirror. Emerging halfback Ashton Ward was also impressive and put his hand up for the starting No.7 jersey while Jamie Humphreys is suspended for the opening two weeks of the season. Manly were let down by their high missed tackle count, with the Sea Eagles missing 41 tackles throughout the contest.

Manly open the scoring of the second half off a offload in trffic as they scored next to the posts. A dangerous tackle on the kicker saw Lenoy earn 10 minutes in the Sin Bin. Manly scored soon after. The SG Ball squad put on an impressive attacking display, running in seven tries to claim a convincing 38-18 win over the Magpies at Redfern Oval. After a tough opening period which almost resulted in a South Sydney try to Ballard, it was Western Suburbs who opened the scoring in the match. South Sydney hit back with powerful running from Lavakeiaho up the middle before they spread the ball and Ballard scored. Fotu-Moala att the extras, 6 all. And Wests went tit for tat when the made a break down the right sideline to score. Wests dropped the ball from the kickoff and soon after Lavakeiaho crashed over under the posts. Fotu-Moala added the extras. South Sydney went back to when Jennings set up Ballard in the corner. Fotu-Moala failed to convert. Halftime South Sydney 16 to 12. The U16s trial was played in 3 20 minute periods. An early 40-20 kick by Lupton saw South Sydney spread the ball and Keil scored in the corner. Lupton picked up the ball behind his try line and ran 50 metres beating defenders before linking up with Misson who scored unnder the posts A intercept allowed Penrith to run 80m to score. South Sydney up 8 to 4 at the first break. After play resumed, Lupton broke the line to score out wide. Penrith hit back when they sliced through the line to score. Penrith evened up the score midway through the second period scoring out wide. 12 all. South Sydney hit back soon after when Lupton kicked in behind the line for Mafi to score. Mafi was in again for his double when he chimed in from a scrum late in the second period. South Sydney leading 20 to 12. Early in the third period allowed Mfi to score his hatrick as he was in again off a error from the Penrith fullback. Late in the game Misson took on the line and scored his second for the afternoon. A dropped ball after the kickoff allowed Penrith one last chance and they scored in the corner. Full time South Sydney winning 28 to 16.

The U18s development trial was played in two 25 min halves South Sydney open the scoring when Warren saw gap a dummy half and scored. Canterbury hit back when the attack near the ruck and scored under the posts. It was a even contest for the rest of the half. Halftime 4 all. After the break May kicked in behind the line and Power scored. Midway through the half the referee went down with a ankle injury. Dogs made it 8 all after a penalty provided field position. A power cross field run by the winger Simms saw him score as South Sydney hit the front again. And almost as quickly the Dogs hit back to even the score in a simple try from dummy half. The Dogs then scored the clincher on full time to win the U18 development trial 12 to 16.

The U16s trial was played in two 25 min halves. A dropped ball allowed Canterbury to open the scoring in the match of a scrum play. After a period of dropped ball it was Canterbury who held the ball and worked their way down field to score again. The rest of the half was a tight contest. Halftime Dogs leading 8 nil. A break down the right side saw Canterbury score in the corner, soon after the break. A poorly defended kicked allowed the Dogs to run the length of the field to score. South Sydney hit back when Searle tapped from a penalty to score, catching the Dogs napping. But a dropped ball soon after the kickoff gave the opposition field position and the Dogs were in again. South Sydney were in again from a crash ball to Haigh behind the ruck. South Sydney are in again under the posts, as Cowan scored just as the final siren sounded Final score 12 to 20.

Canterbury openned the scoring early in the match. They then went back to back with another try in the corner. South Sydney behind 10 nil after 7 minutes. South Sydney hit back with a great try from Mason who took on the defence and scored in the corner. McGregor failed to convert. Dogs hit back in the next set kicking behind the line to score. A powerful saw the Dogs in again against a tiring SOuth Sydney defence. On the stroke of half time Kini-Samuelu scored from dummy half under the posts. McGregor added the extras. Halftime 10-20. After a torrid third quarter a controversial penalty saw the Dogs spread the ball and run 60m to score. The Dogs score again against a tiring South Sydney team. With a player down, the Dogs scored two more tries to run out winners 10 to 42.

But the Dogs went down the field and were held up in a great tackle but were awarded a contreversial try in the corner South Sydney hit back when Ryan-Last chimed in from the scrum and broke the line to score a runnaway 50m try. Mckee missed the conversion. A huge mistake from the scrum saw the Dogs score the simplest of tries. Dogs go into the break leading 4 to 10. Some powerful running saw the Dogs score juast after the break. Minutes later the Dogs score two more quick tries to take a commanding lead, 4 to 26. Scoring 4 tries in the space of 10 minutes. After loosing a player the Dogs continued to dominate scoring late in the game to win 4 to 32.
