South Sydney suffered a early setback when Jye Grey left the fielf with a shoulder injury. Mitchell reverted to fullback. Canberra opened the scoring when they chipped in behind the defenive line to score out wide. Second half open with Fifita at right second row and Murray on the left. South Sydney openned the scoring in the second half when Walker took on the line and broke through scoring near the posts. Mitchell converts. The Rabbitohs are in again when Duncan spots a gap down the blind and sends Johnston down field who links up with Humphreys who scored. Mitchell converts A dropped ball by Canberra saw South Sydney in attack and it was Mitchell using all of his pwer to carry 4 defenders over to score. Mitchell converts the margin has been reduced now 2 22 to 24 A poorly formed defensive line after a kick saw Canberra capatise as they broke the line and ran away to score a long range try. Mitchell has been charged by the match review committee with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle for a tackle in the 7th minute of the game. As it is his second offence for 2026 it carries a base penalty of $2500 fine. He has since taken the early guilty plea reducing the fine to $1800.

It was a difficult outing for the Jersey Flegg Cup side, who went down 30-4 to the Eels at the James Hardie Centre of Excellence. Early in the game Geary was sent to the sin bin for a late tackle. Parramatta scored soon after. Play temporarily stopped while the automated sprinklers were addressed in the South Sydney in goal area. When play restarted after the disruption, Parramatta scored again on the right. Parramatta were in for their third try of the afternoon when they worked they way down field and scored when they took on the line on the left. In a dominate first half Parramatta lead 0 to 16. South Sydney kickoff looking into a low setting sun. South Sydney fail to find touch from a penalty. Parramatta work their way down field and opened the scoring in the second half when they spread the ball and scored in the corner. After a mountain of possession Parrmatta finally found a gap and scored in the corner. Late in the match after a South Sydney regathered from a short kick off, Poyton chimmed into the line and scored out wide. Poynton failed to convert. But Parramatta had the final play of the game working their way up field and scoring once again out wide to win the game in dominant fashion 4 to 30. The Rabbitohs found it hard to generate consistent attacking momentum against a well-organised Eels outfit.

The Harold Matthews Cup side claimed an nail biting 33-28 victory, in extra time, over the Panthers at HE Laybutt Field in a match that featured nine tries across both teams. After a disaster of start to the game where failed to field the kickoff. They held out Penrith in the following set. Then worked their way down the filed in the follow set of 6 and scored out wide from a great short ball by Bateup for Samson to score. Tarau converts. A inside ball from Tarau saw Suluvale-Liumaunu step defenders and score. Tarau converts. Penrith hit back after a left side run sees them then spread the ball to the right and score in the corner. A error saees Penrith regather and score out wide. After a great drop out by Tarau, a well worked ruck play saw Bateup make a break behind the ruck and beat the fullback to score under the posts. Tarau converts. Right on half time Penrith received a penalty and kicked a goal. Halftime South Sydney lead 18 to 10. South Sydney opened the scoring in the second half when Tarau took on the line and bumped off 3 defenders to score. Tarau converts. South SYdney lead 24 to 10. A desperate Penrith offloaded after offload before they finally found a gap behind the ruck and kicked and scored near the posts. 24 to 16 with 12 minutes to play. A great ball sees Samson break the line and run 40m to score in the corner. Tarau fails to convert. A chip over the top saw Penrith make a break down field. Later they scored out wide. Penrith are in again from dummy and the game is locked up 28 all at fulltime. The game now went into a 5 minute each way extra time. Tarau kicked at early field goal in extra time 29-28. South Sydney held this lead untill half time of extra time. As the clock wound down to the end of the second period of extra time, South Sydney were in control of the final minute of the game and as Penrith rushed up Tarau sent Hopaote over in the corner to win the match 33 to 28. Earning a week off and advancing South Sydney to the Preliminary Final.
