After a torrid openning. It was Dufty who made a early break, which was followed by a great tap on by Mitchell for Johnston to score out wide. Mitchell fails to convert. After Melbourne almost scored soon after a Rabbitoh error. It was South Sydney who scored again from a scrum play when South Sydney set the scrum at the 10m right side and it was Mitchell who sent Johnston over out wide. Mitchell converts. Another error by Melbourne, and it was our right side who combined as Dufty sent Graham over in the corner. Mitchell fails to converts. South Sydney were on fire, this time it was Dufty wh chimed into the backline and using his speed score on the left. MItchell fails to convert. Early in the second half Murray copped a elbow in the head while making a tackle and had to leave the field for HIA assessment. Melbourne almost scored soon after but were denied after a doule movement. But it was South Sydney who opened the scoring when Aitken crashed over at close range. Mitchell fails to convert. Johnston made a big break up the middle and had Melbourne defense all over the place and soon after it was Duncan who bounced off tackles to score his second. South Sydney continued with their 8th try of the game as Wighton sent Graham over for his second in the corner. With 10 to go Mitchell landed a long range 2pt field goal, bringing up his 100th point for the season. The Storm scored their first try when they caught South Sydney napping at the kickoff, regathered and scored. But South Sydney would have the final try when a break down the right side by Wighton, set up the play for Duncan who is now playing left centre to score his third try of the afternoon. Mitchell converts. Final score South Sydney 48 to 6, their greatest and biggest victory over the Storm, and the Storms worst ever defeat at AAMI Park.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs produced a stunning last-gasp finish to defeat the Melbourne Storm 22-16 in a thriller at Seabrook Reserve in Round Eight of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup. Thomas Fletcher sealed a dramatic victory with a hat-trick try on the siren, sending the Rabbitohs to five consecutive wins in their 2026 campaign. The Storm started the brighter of the two sides, opening the scoring when five-eighth Keagan Russell-Smith's perfectly weighted grubber found Moses Leo, who pounced to score in the corner. A fortuitous bounce off a Russell-Smith chip kick then fell perfectly for edge back-rower Preston Conn to touch down, putting the home side 8-0 in front. The Rabbitohs hit back through some clinical left-edge play, with Thomas Fletcher crossing for his first try after halves partner Ashton Ward drew the defence and fed him into open space. Winger Edward Kosi then finished a well-constructed movement to level the scores at 8-8, before fullback Bayleigh Bentley-Hape's conversion edged the visitors in front. It was Mitch Jennings who swung the pendulum back in Melbourne's favour right on half-time. A sharp pass from hooker Lazarus Vaalepu sent Jennings around the corner and over the line in the final seconds, sending the Storm to the sheds with a 14-10 lead and momentum firmly in their grasp. A penalty goal to Eli Morris early in the second half extended the Storm's advantage to six points, and for a period they looked capable of running away with the contest. However the Rabbitohs refused to buckle, with Jonah Glover's return from a head injury assessment providing a boost as the visitors pressed for an equaliser. Fletcher struck again with a try on the left edge to level the scores at 16-all with 13 minutes remaining, converting a looping Liam Le Blanc pass after the Storm defence was spread thin. Bentley-Hape added the conversion to tie the match, setting the stage for a grandstand finish. With the game in the balance and under a minute remaining, the Rabbitohs were awarded a penalty deep in their own half. Ashton Ward took the all-or-nothing option down the short side and found Fletcher unmarked on the edge. The powerful back-rower crashed over on the siren, completing his hat-trick and handing South Sydney a stunning 22-16 victory that will live long in the memory at Seabrook Reserve. Bentley-Hape added the conversion in the final seconds as a formality, capping off a remarkable comeback win.

The Storm went back to back when they made a blind side break and scored a long range try. The had raced out to a cammanding 0 to 18 lead after 13 minutes. Another left side attack and the Storm were in again long range out wide. A error by South Sydney gifted Melbourne field position and they scored again down the left side, as the continued to score a point a minute. South Sydney made a positional change when they swapped centres at the 30 minute mark. This didn't stop the Storm as they reverted their attack play to the right and scored again. South Sydney finally hit back when Poynton broke the line a using his speed and step scored a long range 50m effort. Poynton converts. But the Storm go into the break well in command, 6 to 34. A nick kick in behind the line by Lenoy saw Hawkins-Malcolm score in the corner. Poynton converts from the sideline. South Sydney went back to back when Heslin crashed over under the posts. Late Changes - Tauaa is out. Cresswell starts at centre, Kaberry at lock. Ajouz is the concussion sub. Davies and McKenna dropped off the bench. South Sydney open the scoring after the Roosters dropped a bomb, South Sydney regather and soon after Alvarez scores from dummy half. The Roosters hit back when they worked the way up field and scored. South Sydney returned serve when Alvarez took on the opposition from dummy half and made a break before liking with Fotu-Mola who scored under the posts. Jennings converts. South Sydney almost scored when Fotu-Molaattack on the blindside before linking with Hill and a stumbling Alvarez was held up over line. A break by the Roosters setup field position and scored in contreversial circumstances in the corner in the last play of the half. Halftime 10-12. Roosters open the half with a simple spread of the ball to score in the corner. Roosters were in again when they rolled up field and their half took on the line and scored. South Sydney hit back when they spread the ball and Walters scorer in the corner. Jennings fails to converts. But alas there wasnt to be a majic comeback as South Sydney season comes to a disappointing end with a loss 14 to 24.

Newcastle opened the scoring midway through the half when they outjumped Dorahy to catch the ball and score under the posts. South Sydney were denied again when a sheppard penalty was awarded. Late in the half Newcastle go some field position and snuck in behind some rushing defence to score their second. They go into halftime leading 0 to 12. South Sydney opened the second half scoring from a great cutout ball by Tarau for Ben Wright to score in the corner. Tarau fails to convert. A great blind side rush saw Bateup combine with Tarau and Wright before Wright passed back in for Tarau to run in under the posts. Tarau converts. South Sydney were denied a match winning try when the referee ruled double movement even though momentum carried Suluvale-Liumaunu over the line to his waist. As South Sydney played hot potato in the final play of the game a stray pass went to Newcastle who scored, winning the preliminary final 10 to 18. South Sydney lost their first game in 9 games and were bundled out agonisingly short again this year.

Mounties scored again from dummy half just on the stroke of halftime. They lead 0 to 8. After a intercept and a long break. South Sydney had Mounties in 6s and 7s and 30 passed to 13 who scored. Mounties hit back with a cross field kick to score. While both teams swung in the changes it was Mounties who scored again. A cross field kick saw Mounties regather and score under the posts. Late in the game 17 crashed her way over under the posts. Mounties had the scored on the bell in the corner to win the trial 8 to 24.
