WIN 20-16
South Sydney won a tough encounter against the Wests-Tigers 20-16. It was South Sydney who opened the scoring, when Jye Gray broke the line and scored in a backline right side play. Mitchell converts. The Rabbitohs went back to back, in a almost identidical play, this time with Gray setting up Wighton to score out wide. Mitchell converts. In the 28th minute Jye Gray left the field when he copped a high shot. Mitchell reverted to fullback and Duncan to left centre. South Sydney almost scored again when Mitchell chimmed into the back line and sending Graham-Tufa over, only to have the pass ruled touched by Wighton mid flight. As Halftime was winding down, Korosiau made a break against a tiring ruck defence and the Tigers scored out wide. The Tigers when back to back when debutant Graham-Taufa dropped a bomb and they scored out wide. Mitchell was then placed on report for high contact as the Tigers got a 8 point try. Amazingly the Tigers had scored 14 pointsin 3 minutes to lead 12 to 14 at the break.
South Sydney open the scoring after a arm wrestle opening period of the half. Humphreys put up a well placed kick, Johnston knocked it back to Mitchell who scored. Mitchell failed to convert. From the kickoff Kolomatangi dropped the ball and Mamouzelos cleaned up the ball offside. The Wests-Tigers kicke apenalty goal and we were locked up at 16 all. Mitchell then kicked off out on the full putting his team under pressure again. But the Tigers failed to capitalise. Then in the 65 minute chasing a kick Luai went off with a leg injury. South Sydney broke the deadlock when Walker kicked in behind the line when the bouncing ball beat a number to land at Alex Johnston's feet to score his 214th firat grade premiership try. Mitchell failed to convert. In the dying minutes Douehi also went down with a hamstring injury. South Sydney hang on to win the game 20 to 16.

v Western Suburbs, 5:10pm [BAR TV]

WIN 20-12
Late Changes - Bentley-Hape, Siegwalt, Fletcher, Le Blanc were out. Kosi started on the wing, Lawry at centre, Dickson at 5/8, Vito at second row, Williamson at lock, Johannsen on the bench. Mazzone was the concussion sub. Pele dropped off the bench. South Sydney Rabbitohs snapped an 11-game losing streak with a gritty 20-12 victory over the Western Suburbs Magpies in Round Three of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup at Polytec Stadium in Gosford. Both teams produced a disciplined opening half, with only four points scored in the first 25 minutes. The deadlock was broken by Jay Kirk after a slick movement involving Edward Kosi, Logan Dickson, Matthew Humphries and Dan Keir sent Kirk over in the corner in the 15th minute. Humphries missed the conversion to leave the score at 4-0. Rabbitohs halfback Humphries made amends for the missed conversion when he slotted a penalty goal in the 39th minute to give South Sydney a 6-0 lead at half-time. South Sydney stretched their lead in the second half when veteran fullback Matt Dufty produced a sublime final pass to put winger Oliver Lawry over. Humphries converted to make it 12-0 with 27 minutes remaining, and the Rabbitohs looked firmly in control. John Radel, a standout performer throughout, added a third try after taking a superb pass from Dufty to cross untouched, extending the lead to 18-0. Wests finally got on the board through a well-worked effort from fullback William Craig, who linked brilliantly with Javon Andrews before finishing in the corner. Andrews converted to reduce the margin to 12 points with just over 11 minutes left. South Sydney improved the buffer back to 14 points when Humphries slotted his second penalty goal, and the game appeared over until substitute Jack Attard capped a breathtaking late move. A pinpoint cross-field kick from Tino Tavana was re-directed with a deft chip over the top to Attard, who strolled under the posts to score what was arguably the try of the match. Andrews kicked the conversion for Wests, but it was too little, too late. The final score of 20-12 was a fair reflection of South Sydney's dominance for the majority of the contest.
