Manly won in controversial circumstances 14 to 28 at Foz Pines Park, which was renamed for this game only to honour the new long term Manly coach. The game opened in a torrid period with South Sydney defending their line for the early stages of the game. It took a great 40-20 by Cody Walker to get South Sydney up field and then a lovely shortball by Murray sent Koloamatangi over next to the posts. A great break by Gray backed up by Ward resulted in Manly having a man sent to the sin bin. Siegwalt converted the penalty goal. But a dropped ball by Jye Gray allowed Manly to hit back when Saab scored in the corner. Another dropped ball, this time by Graham and Manly scored immediately in the opposite corner. Manly went into the break leading 8 to 10.
A great offload by Hubner set the backline and a great leap by Kosi, but South Sydney were denied a great leaping try when the video referee deemed the ball touched the touch-in-goal, with many see the ball touch the grass first. Manly then worked they way up field and scored, but in the play the ball everyone on TV saw the ball dropped, but the try was still given. Soon after Manly were in again when Ben Trobojevic scored. After letting in 22 unanswered points, it took a 40-20 by Ward to give South Sydney field position, and a short ball by Walker sent Fifita over for a try. Siegwalt converts. But ill disapline gave Manly field position and Saab beat Siegwalt to score in the corner. This gave Manly a 14 point lead with 6 minutes to play, which they held onto to win the contest 14 to 28, as South recorded their 3rd straight loss.

Brandon Smith was placed on report for a cannonball tackle, but no further action was taken.
Garlick was placed on report in the 62nd minute and later charged by the Match Review committee with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle. It carries a base fine of $1000. He has since taken the early guilty plea reducing the fine to $750. No one has been charged by the match review committee.

South Sydney Rabbitohs held off a spirited fightback from the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to claim a 34-24 victory at 4 Pines Park in Round 14 of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup. Manly opened the scoring through a long range left side attack to score under the posts. South Sydney hit back from a long ball by Sullivan, which allowed Mazzone to get around his man to score in the corner. Bentley-Hape fails to convert. South Sydney then miss 3 scoring opportunities while dominating field position. Then Manly were denied a try through a double movement. But a big error by Sullivan allowed Manly field position and they scored under the posts when Walsh attacked the ruck. South Sydney hit back from the kickoff when Manly drop the ball on the first hitup and Glover scored in the corner. Bentley-Hape fails to convert. South Sydney are in again when Pele crashes over near the posts. Bentley-Hape converts. South Sydney lead 14 to 12 at the break. Early in the second a late hit by Pele resulted in a penalty which Manly converted 14 all. South Sydney were in again when on the last tackle Mazzone kicked in behind the line only to see the fullback fumble and he regathered to scored his second try. Bentley-Hape converts. After a great run by Le Blanc, Bentley-Hape sent the pass to MAzzone who score his third for the afternoon. Bentley-Hape fails to convert. South Sydney were once again in good field position, and Mazzone scores again his fourth for the afternoon. Bentley-Hape converts from the sideline. South Sydney continued their rampage with Pele smashing through the line to score his second. Bentley-Hape fails to convert. Manly started a late run of points when they scored a try when Walsh sent his winger over in the corner. Manly go back to back after a clever early kick setup a big break, and they scored soon after. But South Sydney hold to win 34 to 24, extending their winning run to eight wins from their past nine games.
